STAND
The contemporary architecture organisation in Greece, DOMa, commissioned qoop for the second time to design and implement stands of assebled parts for the promotion of event sponsors. They were placed 6 times at events held at the Benaki Museum of Piraeus for the period 2022-2023, including the DOMa Greek Architecture Awards and the lectures by Juan Herreros, Barozzi Veiga, Pezo von Ellrichshausen and SO-IL.
An important factor in the design during the study was the quick assembly and disassembly of the stands, their durability as well as the smallest possible volume during their storage. 18 units were manufactured which were combined with each other in pairs, creating a sufficient mounting base for the system. The rigidity was also contributed by the diagonal connection on the upper side, to which the linear lighting was adapted. Finally, pieces of polycarbonate sheet were provided that connected the pairs, creating a continuous unit.
Structurally, the pieces of the pedestals consist of a metal frame with a cross-section of 30/15/1.5mm, corners of 20/20/3mm and 14/14/1.5mm for the fixing strips of the polycarbonate filling sheets. The accompanying tables of each stand were implemented with 2.5mm thick sheet metal for the surfaces and 14/14/1.5mm for the frame. The assembly was done by applying M8 rivets to the pedestal frames, while alignment regulators were provided on the bases.
