ARTIST STUDIO & RESIDENCE
..
Architect Alexandros Gerousis was commissioned to transform a semi-basement apartment in the Koukaki district of Athens—formerly used as a textile storage space—into an artist's residence and studio.
The apartment's open-plan layout accommodates two parallel modes of everyday life—domestic living and creative work—or, when required, transforms entirely to serve either one.
Qoop was commissioned to fabricate a series of bespoke elements in painted steel and raw stainless steel, with exposed connections, fittings, and mechanical components, reflecting the project's overall industrial character and material honesty.
The scope of qoop's work included: (a) a system of fixed and operable steel-framed glazing; (b) the main entrance door; (c) custom storage cabinets; and (d) the staircase handrail.
