The architectural practice "Und Studio" was commissioned to design a multifunctional furniture system for the La Società delle Api artist residency program, installed within a neoclassical building on the island of Megisti.
Positioned at the heart of the space, this hybrid structure functions simultaneously as a piece of furniture and a spatial framework, designed to make the most of the room's vertical dimension.
Qoop was commissioned to fabricate the entire system, while addressing one of the project's central design ambitions: the ability to be assembled, disassembled, and transported with ease.
The structure was fabricated from formed sheet steel and hollow steel sections, connected through custom-engineered joints to create a fully modular system.
The hybrid structure integrates multiple functions within a single architectural element, including: (a) a workspace (desk); (b) storage (cabinets); (c) vertical circulation (stair); (d) rest (sleeping platform); and (e) lighting (integrated light fixtures).
