ALFA VAGIA – EXTERIOR
Alpha Vagia project
The architectural practice Fotis Zapantiotis Associated Architects was commissioned to design a residential complex located on Vagia Beach on the island of Serifos.
Qoop was commissioned to fabricate a series of bespoke elements for the surrounding outdoor spaces, while responding to the project's central design intention: establishing a dialogue between the structures and the materiality and morphology of the landscape, while preserving the specific construction details defined by the architectural design.
The fabrication of these elements presented a complex technical challenge due to their scale and the fundamental requirement for each structure to consist of fully demountable components. This approach was essential in order to allow the individual parts to (a) undergo hot-dip galvanizing, (b) receive a powder-coated finish, and (c) be efficiently transported and assembled on site.
The scope of qoop's work included: (a) a series of outdoor canopies of different typologies; (b) linear seating elements; and (c) railings
