CENTRO OTTICI
Centro ottici is an optical shop in Nea Smyrni, Athens, and is a project of mold architects. QOOP was called on for this project to carry out the designs of the exterior, the support grid for the optical glasses in the interior and the central office furniture.
The external face consists of a hidden support frame 50/50/3mm which was covered by 2mm sheet metal painted in the color of copper. At a distance of 15cm from this lining, the final outer surface was placed, which also consists of 2mm corrugated sheet metal, painted white while the pattern shown was laser cut.
The inner grid was produced from 30 pieces of 3mm thick sheet metal in laser cutting with double crimping. Each of them was designed in such a way that the suspension between them is achieved mechanically without welding, while their hidden connections create the impression of a single whole.
Finally, in the 4-meter-long office furniture produced from 6mm metal sheet, emphasis was placed on solving the connection of the assembled legs with the upper surface.
The project was completed in its entirety within 6 days, thanks to the detailed application study and the perfect collaboration with mold architects and the contractor Aris Sfikas.
