EL CENTRO
Cultural space for the promotion and dissemination of the Spanish language and culture
Architect Angeles Mira redefined the El Centro language education center by creating relationships of intensity and rhythm between the architectural shell and interior elements.
Soft gradations in textures and color tones in spaces with rich natural light create a sense of intimacy and a mood of concentration and provide a homogenous backdrop against which to spread a visual vocabulary that cleverly challenges concepts and invites exploration through scale, visual connection and interchange.
Metal objects acquire an exuberant morphological character and cover a wide range of functional and oncoplastic elements. These include doors, partitions and stairs. The visual identity of the center is an element of inspiration and design gesture, geometric shapes create sometimes full and sometimes empty, different coatings give the feeling of depth or semi-permeability while the repetition of elements occurs in a non predictable way enriching the concept of rhythm.
Objects are characterized by a willingness to discover their size by constantly presenting the tendency to float. The construction solution is characterized by the use of thin profiles and surfaces and the tendency to hide connections and other technical elements since the objects acquire an almost graphic value in the space.
