GATES AND DOORS
Alpha Vagia project
At Vagia Beach in Serifos, Fotis Zapantiotis Associated Architects commissioned qoop to construct the sliding garage door, the gate, the signage, the intercom/mailbox at the entrance of the residential complex as well as the doors to the warehouses.
The total opening of the entrance to the plot consists of a 1.50m long pivot gate, a 6m long sliding garage door and a fixed railing also 6 meters long. They were made of solid slats with a cross-section of 100/10mm & 100/6mm and 5mm thick sheet metal for the full sections. For the garage door, due to the open section at the base and the heavy weight of the plates above it, a static study was required in order to avoid the curvature of the base slats. Triple powder coated paint was applied to all metal parts, while the complete parts were designed to be removable so that there were no unpainted parts of the frame. The mechanisms and the recessed rollers of the sliding door as well as the pivot mechanism of the opening door are from the company comunello, which specializes in this field.
For the signance of the complex and the mailbox, 5mm and 2mm sheet metal were used and were laser cut.
For the warehouse doors, a 40/40/2 mm section was used for the door frame, while for the frames that carry the grilles, 2 mm thick sheet metal was bent to the required dimensions and then were welded to a vertical 40/3mm plate. These frames were screwed inside the door frames in order to be completely protected from the powder coated paint.
