TILES TABLE IΙ
The project concerns the design and production of a dining table on a Cycladic island. For its design, the design of the existing chairs, the overall dimensions of the surface tiles in a design by Fani Skoulikidi and the possibility of disassembling the upper surface from the support legs for easier transport were taken into account.
In order to achieve a coherent whole in the dining table, the design of the chairs was first analyzed, where the curves on the side coverings of the legs arose, as well as their overall thickness, which is emphasized by the creation of a recess.
For its production, 5mm corrugated metal sheet was used for the surface and the covers of the legs - made by laser cutting, solid square cross-section of 30x30 mm for the legs and 18mm marine plywood for the application of the tiles on the surface.
Special care was given to the hidden moldings of the metal pieces and the hidden assembly screws in order not to affect the simple design of the furniture. In collaboration with the artist, the final dimensions of the surface were made based on the overall dimensions of the handmade tiles after they were baked, also calculating the set of required joints.
Double electrostatic paint was applied to the furniture. The total dimensions of the table are 240x90x76cm.
