VORRES MUSEUM
The Vorres Museum is dedicated to modern Greek art and folk tradition. It is located in Paiana on an area that covers approximately 11 acres and is housed in a complex of buildings with a total area of 4,500 sq.m. surrounded by extensive courtyards and gardens.
The board of directors of the museum commissioned qoop to design, manufacture and install two doors, one fixed and one opening window for the museum's cafe area. The purpose was to replace the existing frames with optically lighter constructions and to ensure better natural lighting in the interior by using crystals for filling. It was chosen to use profiles from the Swiss company ottostumm, which specializes in the production of composite iron metal profiles. They consist of thin profile steel sections that ensure waterproofing and thermal insulation through a variety of complementary components applied to them.
Through the study of the possibilities of ottostumm, the appropriate combination of profiles and components was chosen in order to achieve an overall delicate impression on the frames, harmonizing them with the architecture of the museum. The liquid paint with rust treatment that was applied to the metal elements contributed to this, a roughness that was qualitatively combined with the rest of the construction materials used at the cafe area.
The welding work of the different profiles was done in the qoop workshop, following the technical instructions of ottostumm, developing their capabilities according to the project's requirements.
